Vinous - 91-92
From one of two sub-vineyards of the Reiterpfad Einzellage farmed by von Buhl (the other being Hofstück), this leads with hints of ripe quince, pear and Persian melon. Whiffs of lanolin and resin from oak can be forgiven insofar as they are well-integrated and the use of barrel has no doubt enhanced this wine’s flatteringly creamy texture. The full force of fruit is lusciously felt midpalate and on a long finish that introduces mouthwatering salinity. Both the prominent fruitiness and the salinity, incidentally, strike me as Ruppertsberg-typical.
Jancis Robinson - 17
Herbal and spirity notions meet in an expression of spirit of melissa. Viscous and creamy on the palate the in-der-Hohl seems to be all about texture and as acidity takes a back seat, there is a rich burgundian mouthfeel on the palate.
